Patent and trademark protection

Our patent drafting takes your idea from the white board to a persuasive legal document that we create for your business. Persuasive because your inventions are clearly and concisely explained with the necessary technical depth. This approach delivers value whether the document is reviewed by investors, licensees, patent office examiners, judges or jurors. Our approach to protecting brands via trademarks is also pragmatic. We advise clients in a manner that allows them to select a protectable brand by avoiding mistakes often made during brand selection. Our clients are fully integrated in the process for both patent and trademark protection in a manner that maximizes the use of their time.

CONTESTED IP

The greater your business opportunity and the greater your company’s success the more likely you are to come into conflict with others in your domain. At Build IP, we assist clients in asserting their own IP and defending against IP held by third parties. Where patents are involved, we work with clients to quantify the potential opportunities and risks in view of the strength of parties’ claims of patent infringement. If you’re defending, we’ll help you evaluate all the options including possible design-arounds and analysis of non-infringement and patent invalidity. Where trademarks are involved, we’ll assess the factual basis for any claims and apply our experience having successfully represented multiple clients in trademark opposition proceedings.

Bob has an impressive technical understanding of both hardware and software applications, which helps when we discuss IP to apply for and build out our patent portfolio. But more importantly, he has been an invaluable advisor helping us navigate what to pursue and when; prioritizing what is needed rather than wasting resources.
